Gear Analytics
Gear Analytics helps you understand what gear performs best across your galleries.
What this page shows
Section titled “What this page shows”- total images included in analytics;
- total selected images;
- overall selection rate;
- unique camera body combinations detected from EXIF;
- unique focal lengths detected from EXIF.
These KPIs are calculated from images that contain usable EXIF metadata. If you upload files without camera or lens metadata, those images will not contribute to gear breakdown charts.
Filters and sorting
Section titled “Filters and sorting”Use the controls at the top of the page to focus your analysis:
- Search by camera, lens, or focal value;
- Minimum images to hide low-volume gear combinations;
- Sort field by total images, selected images, or selection rate;
- Sort direction ascending or descending.
The table and charts update from the same filtered dataset, so you can compare equipment quality and volume without switching pages.
Chart sections
Section titled “Chart sections”The page includes four chart blocks:
- Top gear by selected images to see which setup drives most final choices;
- Volume vs selection rate scatter chart to compare hit rate and consistency;
- Camera body breakdown to evaluate make/model performance;
- Focal length breakdown to spot favored framing ranges.
Use these charts for practical decisions like future rental choices, lens prioritization, and shot-list planning.
Gear table
Section titled “Gear table”Below the charts, the table lists each gear row with:
- camera make and model;
- lens model;
- focal length value;
- total images;
- selected images;
- selection rate.
Selection rate is color-coded for quick scanning, so high-performing setups are easier to identify at a glance.
Backfill EXIF metadata
Section titled “Backfill EXIF metadata”If old galleries were uploaded before EXIF extraction was available, use Backfill EXIF from this page.
Backfill does the following:
- finds gallery images without extracted EXIF rows;
- creates EXIF extraction jobs in the background;
- avoids duplicating active EXIF jobs for the same gallery.
After triggering backfill, open Tasks to monitor exif_extraction progress.
Upload warning when EXIF is missing
Section titled “Upload warning when EXIF is missing”The upload flow performs a quick EXIF check on the first file in a batch. If useful gear metadata is missing, the uploader shows a warning and a short explainer dialog.
This warning does not block upload. It helps you catch export settings early so future analytics stay complete.
